Author Topic: forum emotipics  (Read 2906 times)

Dear Badspot,

What I propose here today is simple:
The use of Emotibot.net's "reaction image" forum-tool on these forums.

Here is a live version of the tool on lolbot's forums:
http://lolbot.net/?content=forum&topic=608&page=1#reply

Features:
  • Automatically generates the BBC code for displaying the images in forum posts.
  • Over 900 quality images and growing.
  • All of the images are tagged and easily searchable so that users can easily find several images to match their current emotion.
  • All of the images get served directly from emotibot.net, so your bandwidth is unaffected.
  • The color scheme of the tool is entirely customizable.
  • Easy to install (it's just an iframe).
  • The images' widths are limited, so they will not stretch out your forums' pages.
  • No advertisements. I may include advertisements for later-adopters, but you would never have to worry about ads. Why would I do this, you ask? Because your adoption of this tool would help it to gain exposure. You get a free tool, and I get free promotion of the tool.

Here is the page where you can customize the colors and generate the iframe code:

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,
Sir Bottington
Webmaster of the Everyboty Network

Ew, iframes... well as long as it's their bandwidth.

All in all, this could work, I 'spose. I think just providing a link to their site would suffice though.

Off the top of my head, the only times Badspot has modified the forum software that I've heard of is to block links to Roblox and block really ambiguous topic titles in the help section. Besides that, I think he's actually updated the software once in the years I've been here. I've never seen any changes to the 5 emoticons we have now. I also can't recall him ever having anything positive to say about SMF.

If I'm right about this, there was a time when the forums used default smilies. Why? I may never know.

The community here makes drama topics about people who post too many of these image macros. The last thing the community wants is something like this.

I recall somebody else here saying something similar to that in response to my "excessive" use of emotipics.

yoyur name and the way you pretend this is some sort of business deal just make this all the more laughable.

terrible idea, the last thing we need is to encourage morons to spam emotes all the more. it doesn't help that they're probably stupid images too.

Yeah, this would be fun. but people would probably spam all the pictures.

Bannable?

The pictures, i mean.

And maybe you can toggle the images with something in your profile, like quick reply.

That'd probably be a good solution

We can just open a new tab and look on Emotibot for the appropriate picture.

So now the forums can be more like 4chan.
