Author Topic: A more advanced "bot follow" system?  (Read 879 times)

I am not sure if this is possible but:

The bot is set to follow you (can be done)
You come across an obstacle and jump over it (can be done)
The bot now comes across that same obstacle and also jumps over it (what I'm proposing)

So what I'm saying is that the bot would be able to "recognize" that something is in the way so they jump over it.

A mimic bot... interesting concept.

The script would be hard to make, I am guessing. Are you proposing that it only recognizes jump and crawl or all the actions and emotes as well?

No no, just jumping and crouching. All of the actions and emotes would be a pain.

You could do this pretty easily I think with some walk speed math and schedules.

It would be simple to make the bot jump exactly when you do and such, but to make it copy your moves in a timescale behind you would be difficult, and it could be easily messed up. Also, wouldn't the bot constantly be trying to move to your position or something?

I don't know.

Well, basically, here is another way of putting it.

The IA can "tell" when something is in it's way and can "make a decision" about whether to jump or crouch under it. Not as much copy the player's every movements.

Woah bro. That's a totally different story there... As far as I know, this would be REALLY hard. You keep making it harder and harder, and I'm not sure if it's even possible anymore :\

Just as I'd feared..Time to call in Truce.

Lol at that. Doubt he'd be up to it, he seems busy anyways.

ONTOPIC: Seriously, a pokemon mod can be evented, if you're clever enough. I was making one a while ago, it seemed to work fine with bots, with each bot having their own attack and health stats. You can only have one though, but that could be quite easily fixed.

Ninja: If anyone wants to continue the work on it, as long as im sure that you're a serious eventer ill send you the file. I cant go on BL due to problems :C

EDIT: Fail, wrong topic!

ReallyOnTopic: I agree with the origonal idea, but not when the bot detects obsticals by itself. That would take ages to make. Im fairly sure Space Guy made bots with obstical detection ages ago before v9. I cant remember the details though.

You mean a serious scripter?

That would be nice if someone could script this, I would but I don't know enough Torque yet D:
