Author Topic: Help with getting my dad a cell phone  (Read 1349 times)

I know hardly anything about phones since I hardly use them. My dad is looking for a new phone because his current droid's internet slows down a lot randomly. Hes looking for something that has fast internet and fast email. We use verizon if it matters.

Yes it does matter.
Verizon has iPhones now.

as far as iPhones go
Verizon: less dropped calls
AT&T: faster data
other than that they're the same. if you dont want to switch carriers, though, the data on Verizon can't be that bad. For things like e-mail and browsing it should be fine.

iPhones are good regardless of what you think of apple's computers.

i compared my AT&T smartphone to my friend's Verizon smartphone internet speed and mine was a lot faster

I agree. My Droid Eris is painfully slow.

Speaking of phones I lost all signal last night, both internet and bars. I used Wifi. :U

If you live somewhere urban, tell him to get one of the new 4G Droids by either Motorola or HTC.
iPhones are cool too.

Consider that millions of people will soon make the switch to 4G LTE for data. Think of how much faster those old 3G networks can operate now that they have less of a load. If your dad wants to save money, I personally suggest the HTC Incredible or Droid 2. I have some experience with both and its all positive.

iPhone, then jailbreak it.

If you forget it up, well restore and try a different program (or follow the instructions better.)  Nothing will be lost because it's default out of the box software.
