It's from Pure Pwnage, but the original comment was about storylines and not graphics.

Except I've never seen that video before.

No person would look for visual quality over fun.
A lot of people do, just don't admit to it.
Some people are even often insulted for playing a fun game just because it looks bad.

gameplay. graphics are nice but i'd rather play an awesome game that looks ok than a mediocre game that looks amazing.
that being said, i loving love crysis, and a 15 year old game called mechwarrior 2

For example, FortressCraft is stuff.
fortresscraft looks like stuff because the graphics do not mesh together; it has an extremely blocky, simple world (like minecraft) but then it has a ton of shaders and high quality water that isn't blocky in the least.
if the people/person making fortresscraft took minecraft gameplay ideas and put it into a more unique format (ie actually DIGGING, red faction / celestial impact style, not removing 1m^3 blocks of dirt) it'd be a lot more interesting than minecraft, i'd say.

Or at least put in the slight effort to smooth out edges on blocks and such if the developer is trying to go for a "higher quality" approach.

WHO THE HELL VOTED FOR GRAPHICS
Hand me 8 bullets.

Edit: What's the point of graphics if the game is a broken mish-mash.

Simply put, graphics won't make a 5 minute game awesome. Yoou need content and gameplay.

Gameplay is important but a game also can't look horrible

I'd take gameplay over graphics any day. I play a 2D isometric top down view game made entirely of sprites (aka Haven and Hearth) and a game made of blocks with pixel graphics (Minecraft) so yeah.

Gameplay is important but a game also can't look horrible
I still enjoy some very basic games whose graphics are nothing more than number art. We're talking 1980s style, baby.

Two words. Dwarf fortress.

Flubbman just made a topic just like this

lol'd

first you need to define good graphics cause I see people arguing about agreeing somewhat in the other thread, are good graphics determined by real life artifacts or by 'does the game look good'

if so practically every game you like probably fits the second choice

so would you put world of goo on the same scale as say Crysis or halo or Call of duty or battlefield? ( just to name a few titles that are sadly over popular"

maybe it depends on what you think good graphics are. Is blockland as real as real life legos? No but that's the point it isn't supposed to be
so yes they are both important but they both have to work together to a common goal what the game is trying to achieve theme wise not 'how would this behave in real life' cause we don't want that most of the time

but if I can only have one I'd choose gameplay cause that's why we play games isn't it to play them if all they do is look good and you cant do anything in them all they are good for is just that a picture or video or a tech demo

You know what? We need a game that's solely based on altering the graphics and objects to win.

That would be weird.

that actually would be badass
