Author Topic: [Engine Change] Collision Layering  (Read 5311 times)

This sounds like a good idea.

Is Baddy like Notch where he doesn't like to add things that people suggest?
Now now now...

Beds were a player made idea....

Yes, and skylands was a player made map. :)

Out of all the suggestions Badspot should look at, it is this one.

What's wrong with players bumping into each other?

I don't like this idea and I see no reason for it to be made. If people are having such a problem with collision in their TDM games maybe they should build it better to prevent crowding.

For zombies, oh look it's one zombie that won't harm me. Oh stuff it's really 50 zombies piled into one! What is the point of zombies colliding into themselves? They would just stack into each other instead of crowding a building like they do in so many movies and games. Not only that but let's say only 10 touch the building and the rest can't. So if there is no colliding they all manage to touch the building so you have over 50 zombies destroying it, almost making it impossible to even have a chance to defend yourself.

Your'e just pissed because you block people in most games to troll them. Also like the OP says you can edit the layers so zombies can collide with eachother.

Those were just examples.

How about challenges? Or when you're building and people are all hovering around your tightly spaced build?

Make challenges that can't be blocked.

As for building oh I know, add a wall around your build when building or hmm maybe kick them. Hey you could even ignore it. Another alternative for building would be on player touch - player - kill.

I'm not mad at all. I don't like the idea not because I wouldn't be able to block anymore, it has nothing to do with that.

Are you trolling a la obstructionism or are you just stupid?

I can't have an opinion against this with out people thinking I am trolling or mad? I'm not the only one who doesn't like this you know.

Lets put it this way, and I'm being nice here:

I'm assuming in good faith you're trying to spite either Chrono or myself by saying this suggestion is bad by using very poor examples, as opposed to thinking you're literally so logical challenged you'd consider kicking and creating walls practical alternatives to a collision laying system.

Make challenges that can't be blocked.
Yeah, about 5-20 people on a challenge that requires jumping across a series of difficult and odd gaps.
Do that without any possibility of anyone being blocked.
I'm dying to see it.

As for building oh I know, add a wall around your build when building
People will get in.
or hmm maybe kick them.
Not everyone is an admin.
Hey you could even ignore it.
Yes, ignore an obstruction blocking your way to your goal.
Another alternative for building would be on player touch - player - kill.
And then you die.

If the person wants to block and not move then kick them for being a richard. If you don't want to be bothered when building then set up a barricade or build in single player. It's as simple as that. I just don't think badspot should get a whole new engine just for this and not everyone is in favor for this system.

Apparently anyone who has an opinion against this is getting flamed for no reason. So I assume in good faith you would stop assuming I hate this just because you think I am trying to spite either you or Chrono.

Hey it works for irk's challenge despite people trying to block.
People will get in.
Make the barricade before they get in and disable skis
Not everyone is an admin.
But if you were then you would kick them.
Yes, ignore an obstruction blocking your way to your goal.
If you ignore it then it goes away.
And then you die.
Actually just plant a brick under them and set it to kill, you won't die and they will.

You don't have to get a whole new engine to make an engine change.

He's already made several changes to the engine he's using.

It's called actual programming.
