Author Topic: Mesh transparency issues  (Read 3227 times)

I have a section of my mesh that is textured to allow for a type of trail to follow the blade of my sword. This concept has been seen in lots of games (EG Zelda series) and Im trying to get it to do the same.

HOWEVER, Im having trouble getting it right.

The texture isnt the only thing visible, as it is supposed to be. The plane that I put the texture on is also visible. The mesh is set to translucent [Additive] in the exporter and I set the alpha value of the mesh's material to zero. But all to no avail. I need assistance.

The texture itself is completely transparent minus the colored area.

Dude.
Leave it like that.
It's awesome.

No its not. Its a fugly box following your sword. I dont like it. I want only the texture.

box?
I thought it was just a simple plane-
Ohhhh.....

Its a plane. I want ONLY the texture showing. because though the screenshot may look good, it does not look good while swinging the sword.

Translucent ≠ Transparent
Translucent is used for glass and semi-transparent materials.

To make it completely transparent, make the white space in the texture itself transparent, and leave it alone while exporting.

The texture already has alpha.

Already tried that. Reverted the plane's material to default settings. Didnt work. Even removed the material from the plane it is on. Also failed to change it. The only thing that caused a change in-game was swapping between additive/subtractive and/or self illuminating. :/

PS: I tried changing the texture image to one without the alpha channel and TGE didnt even recognize it while Blockland loaded.

Hmm.

What does setting the plane as a collision mesh do? It probably wouldn't work, but it's worth a shot.

Hm, might crash.

But Ive got nothing to lose by trying, so why not? :P

If you want send it to me and i'll take a look and see if I can fix it for you.

EDIT: Also if I were you I would bring the sword a little closer to the player, it looks a little bit to far in my point of view.

That's like saying, "Here gimme your model, Im not sure what's wrong with it and Im not going to say what I think can fix it". I dont send my models to people, because Ive had one stolen from me before. If you have an idea of what it may be, say it. If you have multiple ideas, say them all. Or don't.

What did the collision do?

And also, what program are you using?

Hmm.

Didnt work...

Blender, of course.

Here send me the model and textures and I'll see if I can find out what's going on

Yndaaa is probably the least likely to steal this model, Tak, if only for the reason that he could make his own sword easily.
