Author Topic: Tips for not sucking at CoD: Black Ops?  (Read 3987 times)

In my opinion: All iron sights suck. They usually take up half of the map in the direction of your target and are in general bad for getting accurate shots.

Red dot ftw.

I try not to use pistols since they aren't very useful, I use the Strela.
Killstreaks are: RC-XD, Care Package, Sentry Gun (almost useless, IMO)
I'll replace Sleight of Hand with Warlord/Steady Aim and see how that turns out.

I have a crazy fast trigger finger, so I use FN FAL dual mag and CZ75 extended mag with scavenger pro (I run around the map a lot), Hardened pro (keeps my aim on when I get hit), and Second Chance Pro (Spam handgun with 18 shots FTW, getting revived saves killstreaks)

Trick for Second Chance: If they go behind a wall after downing you, shoot like 1 or 2 shots then stop. They think you ran out, pop out for easy kill, boom they're dead.

As for killstreaks, I go 3, 5, 8. Spy plane tells me where to run, I like the randomness of care packages, and Blackbird is just FTW.

Also, SevenSevens reminded me.

If you don't like 1 killstreak, get the Blackbird in case you end up going on a roll.
It'll benefit greatly.

HK21 is a pretty decent gun
i always thought it was bad
but no
its underrated
give it a drum mag and go crazy

Tips for not sucking at it:
1. Don't play it

lul so randum xD

At Firing Range, camp at A. Set up a claymore on the door and whenever A is getting captured, turn around and shoot them.

I almost always get my attack dogs with this. The only stuffty thing about it is exposure to grenades.

Also, camp at A on Launch. Go in the building-like place north of it, before going up the latter, set up a claymore at a diagonal where both the openings are. Go up the latter and camp like forget. Again, it's exposed to grenades.

so I'm slightly better than the average cod player and I'm here to give you advice wooo

my k/d from near launch to now is 1.82 (was 1.87 last week, played lots of HQ which slaughtered it. got MVP most rounds but seemed to have forgotten my guns shot bullets)

k/d on a new account I started is 2.80

GENERAL ADVICE:

my tips for you: play TDM to boost your k/d if that's all you care about. use counter spy plane as much as you can so you don't need a suppressor. famas / AUG + dual mag (dual mag gives you double the ammo) is a good combination. never use higher killstreaks than you're comfortable with.

PERKS:

slot 1:
hardline is for gaining EXP fast when used with low killstreaks

lightweight = garbage on TDM, good for objective games

flak jacket will get you killed A LOT LESS and piss off RC-XD cigarettes

scavenger is garbage if you use dual mag (which you should.)

ghost is good if you can get the pro version. you will die a lot less. good when used with a suppressor.

slot 2:
scout is garbage

hardened is good with the M60. probably the only time I use it. M60 + extended mag is a great combo with hardened!

sleight of hand is good and bad. good that you reload fast, bad that it can be replaced easily by dual mag so you can use another perk.

warlord is great for gaining EXP with, you can work towards challenges with 2 attachments at once. I like dual mag / reflex sight.

steady aim is good for shotguns and the AK74u. however if you use the AK74u you're a friend.

slot 3:
tactical mask .. kill yourself

marathon is good for objective games or rushing in TDM. not much use otherwise!

hacker is good all around, pairs nicely with ghost to get your sentry gun kill needed for ghost pro.

second chance is generally disliked (by people who aren't using it haha) but it can nab you a few extra kills if you have a fast trigger finger. you can be revived if you have the pro version which isn't hard to get, saving you many deaths.

ninja is good for camping or rushing so they won't hear you coming. not good for much else. saves you a death if turtlebeach cigarettes are soundwhoring.

EQUIPMENT:

C4 - good for killing campers with. throw it behind them and watch the fireworks.

Jammer - not recommended. easily destroyed and makes an annoying noise. good for disabling RC-XD's in a large area however. has its uses.

Claymore - good if your enemies aren't using flak jacket. DO NOT PLACE THESE ON A 90 DEGREE ANGLE OF THE DOOR YOU'RE SETTING IT BY, place the red beams FACING IN THE DIRECTION THE ENEMY WOULD RUN so the explosion follows them.

Motion Sensor - does exactly what it says on the tin. sucks if the enemy likes counter spy planes. good for camping.

Tactical Insertion - good for objective modes. can't be used in FFA, not a smart choice for TDM.

Camera Spike - you're wasting your time. it blocks your map and most people just teabag it. can't be used in FFA.

MY OPINION ON GRENADES:

I don't like special grenades. Frags are the only useful ones to me, cook them and throw them at campers. Voila!

THE CLASS THAT I USE AND DO WELL WITH:

AUG [Dual Mag] + [Reflex Sight]
Strela-3

Flak Jacket (damn you flak jacket pro grenade throwbacks!..)
Warlord Pro
Ninja / Hacker

Frag Grenade x2*
Any special grenade will work
Claymore

*warlord pro gives you 2 frags. useful for killing campers.

remember this is all *my opinion*. however most of these are good tips, I do fairly well at this game. my final tip would be to always play with friends. win or lose it's more fun to blame how much you suck on someone else laugh about it after!

also camping is stuff unless you can manage to get ~5 deaths with at least 20 kills. then again that's just my opinion because I do much better run-n-gunning than camping.

(dual mag gives you double the ammo)

No it doesn't.

It tapes 2 magazines together for faster reloads because all you have to do is release the mag and flip it over.

It's not a matter of how many kills you can get, it's how you can utilize yourself into achieving the objective. The only game mode that's dependent on this is Team Deathmatch.

+100000 respect

Seriously guys.

yes it does. you will have twice the ammo if you use dual mag. test it yourself.
