Hello there. It has come to my attention that we have clans that barley get off the ground and stuff like that.
I really want to contribute to helping you guys on how to sucessfully start, maintain, and make a topic for a clan.
Let's get started, br0.
You will need the following:
- A good sense of grammar
- 5+ members already
- A good sense on making a topic presentably good.
- Paint.NET or Photoshop*
- Hosting a Blockland Server
Part 1: Getting the clan started.
This depends on if you really want to make a clan with members already for a rep or not, but try putting your application standards up and get about
5 members. But even before that, you should totally learn how to properly host a Blockland server (This is part of the managing part of the guide.)
Step 2: Making a topic with nice graphics.
Afterblock has a good guide to this, so I recommend reading that tutorial in the "Clan Pack", but here's my take on it.
You want to aim the theme at your clan's theme. Example: Avialliance is a flying clan, so a aviation style was added to it. iEvent a eventing clan primary, but it's more of a tech clan. Thus is has an 8-bit theme.
Also, try finding a person that does clan layouts. They will sure help you make a clan topic graphics.
Step 3a: Managing your clan.
Let's make this simple.
DOs:- Have a high standard in applications
- Limit your clan to a decent amount of members (Such as 20-15)
- Keep in conact with your members
- Have a project or a server once in awhile
- An HQ is a perfect way to get clans to get members working with each other.
- Have a Out-of-Blockland game night/Mess around.
DON'Ts- Have low to no standards. Doing this will make your clan look like stuff.
- Having a clan forum or website. They give you too much to manage and you will most likely get little to no traffic at all.
- Copying clan names or look alikes (iBlock or FoB "forgeters of Blockland")
- Not knowing each other
- No servers at all
- Having a co-leader who doesn't know how to manage a clan. This could end up like Blockintosh.
- Having more than 2 clans
Step 3b: Managing your clan's server.
This is a really easy task for some, the others not. Having too many weapons, music, etc. can really let down people's interest for joining the clan.
I recommend having basic tools like the Fillcan, Duplicator, RTB, and many others. Votekick, Silent kick, and other mods can also help with managing the server while away.
I also recommend getting a server status in the clan's topic from
here. They are dynamic, so you don't need to change the clan's topic everytime the server goes up or down.
One last thing: Always have a good uptime. It's important to have a clan server running at all times with a
dedicated server. These allow you to leave the server without closing the server. You can make your own or rent one with
Kalphiter's service.
Hope this helps you with starting a
successful clan! Good luck!
