Author Topic: Help with a .file  (Read 1145 times)

I have found a .file I need to open I have tried almost everything. I need to get into it to edit something. I tried opening it in notepad and making it a .txt  but I found this:

   ß  '
       ÿÿÿÿ               b   7CLU^g          a   7CLU^g          `   7CLU^g

If anyone knows what that means please tell me or how to properly open the .file file.

Uhm.. Where did you find the .file file .-.

What's the url of the webpage you downloaded it from?

It wasnt a webpage it was part of a games source I need.

Also that gibberish means the file is probably encrypted or whatever it's called.

The gibberish indicates that you can't really edit it with notepad or the like. Try searching "*GAMENAME* .file how to edit" in Google.

Also what game is it from?

try changing the .file to .txt

I did and got:

   ß  '
       ÿÿÿÿ               b   7CLU^g          a   7CLU^g          `   7CLU^g

Apparently the game maker doesn't want you to mess with the source ;-;

It's not a text file obviously, it's a special file used by whatever runs it or is read by the program.

Try opening it with a hex editor.

I usually get text that looks like that when I open something meant for a hex editor in notepad.

I get this a lot when texture hacking brawl, and such.
Try opening in Wordpad.

Its an encrypted file.

Look this up on google;

game name .file decrypter

Or somethin like that.
