Erm, they're not rare on the streets. Makarovs, MAC-10s and Berettas are ending up on the streets all the time. All you have to do is go across the channel, find a shady guy and buy one.
I've lived in Oxford in a Council Estate, my whole family has come from a Council Estate, and there has only ever been a few cases of gun-crime around.
My parents even had close ties with the local police and the local community.
Fair enough, I live in the SouthWest here, and there are probably three times as many guns as in the City, all belonging to farmers and those very few who go Fox Hunting.
How often do you, you specifically, encounter people who are well-known or you've seen carrying or owning guns, or have used them in gun crimes?
In fact, how many people do you know with guns and a lisence to carry them, or just deactivated guns?
I dare say it's a fairly low amount.
And if you have to go searching to find a gun, then they're not as widely available as you're making them out to be.
Armed Robbery is a very rare case in England, and there's almost no need in a gun, especially in the cities.
Out where I live, if you own a farm, and need to shoot pests, then fine, but otherwise, I see no real reason in why civilians should have guns, and even knives.
My view on guns and knives are pretty much, they're not needed by our civilians, and they shouldn't be on our streets, and there should be high punishments for those using them or owning them illegally.
You can have your hobby, fine, but I'll just leave my views here.
