The ignorance of Americans...
We're allowed to kill animals.
We are at the top of the food chain and have a multi-billion population which requires meat to support itself.
That meat must be acquired in large quantaties.
And because of the fact that we are naturally intelligient and form a civilisation, we have such things as currency, which drive our actions.
As alien as that sounds, it's natural and human.
As such, we try to feed as many as possible, for as little cost as possible.
This results in the farming of animals.
It's all very well to do.
These non-intelligent animals, which are bred and born to die, don't know anything different beyond this short life they live.
That doesn't matter, there are plenty of animals that can live on their own.
We just so happen to have to kill some of them.
If there were less people in the world, then yes, we'd kill less animals. But there isn't, so we do what is natural and kill enough to sustain ourselves.
And what is humane can only be decided by humans. What an animal feels is not known, and when they're going to be torn to pieces and sent around the world to be consumed, it doesn't really matter.
I don't care if the beef I eat was comfortable before it died. I really don't. I just care that it's a healthy meat that I can eat and it will nourish me.
That is nature.
