Author Topic: Barack Obama -> Facing possible impeachment.  (Read 7009 times)

Anything Obama does sets a record.

"First black president to eat a hot dog"
"First black president to take a stuff in the white house"

Hahaha.

He never violated the constitution, he just did something that the constitution doesn't explicitly allow him to do.

He did inadvertently violate the Constitution, and he also violated the UN's no fly zone placed over Libya.

In terms of the Constitution; he essentially just placed a declaration of war with Libya.

He didn't violate the no-fly zone, he's helping to enforce it. In terms of the constitution, I'm Canadian, but I assume it doesn't say anywhere that the President may NOT declare war. It just doesn't say that he can, which doesn't make it illegal.

Yes it does, it says the President must gain approval from Congress within 48 hours of declaring war.

Ah, ok. That's arguably not really cause for impeachment though...

yea it is, lol. That's the term of it, if you do a declaration of war without permission of congress, it's cause for an impeachment.

Then if the President declares war and then the congress decides it isn't going to show up or it would just rather not go to war that's a reason to get him removed from power? That makes no sense whatsoever. Either don't allow him to declare war or allow him to declare war only AFTER getting permission.

Yeah that website sure looks like a reliable source of information. If this had any truth to it you can bet Fox News would be running it on the front page of their website.

Well I was going to say something about that gif but oh well.

He didn't even bring it up with Congress, he just kinda went at it.

He didn't declare war on Libya, at all. In fact, it wasn't even him that proposed the idea of the no-fly zone to the UN, but it was the Arab League. The UN security counsel was waiting for the US to agree on the no-fly zone, and Obama eventually relented & agreed. War wasn't declared, considering the fact that he hasn't sent troops onto Libyan soil, and is only assisting the rebel opposition by helping take out AA-guns. If anything, the British and the French are launching more airstrikes than us.

"The War Powers Resolution of 1973 (50 U.S.C. 1541–1548) was a United States Congress joint resolution providing that the President can send U.S. armed forces into action abroad only by authorization of Congress or if the United States is already under attack or serious threat. The War Powers Resolution requires the president to notify Congress within 48 hours of committing armed forces to military action this was done and forbids armed forces from remaining for more than 60 days it hasn't been 60 days, with a further 30 day withdrawal period, without an authorization of the use of military force or a declaration of war."

Obama has not broken the law.

Exactly.

I actually support Obama's decision on the military action in Libya as it is probably the best thing we as a nation could have done to make the rest of the world hate us a little bit less.

Many presidents have done something like this. Obama is just the first to finally get punished for it.

Btw, Yes! forget you Obama!

Obama is not going to be punished, Killer. Please engage in autofellatio or else contribute to the topic in a coherent manner. I'd rather not think about how stupid people are when I'm discussing politics.
