Author Topic: Is there a way I can remotely control one computer from another?  (Read 892 times)

There's a bunch of games and stuff on one computer and I'm going to a family members house and they don't have any. I don't feel like installing everything again.

Virus?
that's the only thing that came to mind about controlling another computer, and I'm sure it would work as long as you keep the other one on.
or just wait it out, you got us to keep you entertained

There is, I've done it at school with my friend's server computer. I myself, have no idea how to set it up but it uses a tool in Windows called the "Remote Desktop Connection".

Yes. A nice little indian man did it with my computer and uninstalled my graphics drivers.  :cookieMonster:

TeamViewer. Some program utilizing Remote Assistance efficiently.

My parents use GoToMyPC, but it costs like $20

Actually it turns out I don't even have to go.
Lucky me.

IT TURNS OUT I MIGHT HAVE TO GO.
AAAAH.

remote server, using something like real VNC
http://www.realvnc.com/
of course if you don't set up enough security, it could be hacked.

Doesn't windows have that cloud thing?

You won't be able to play games from one computer on another. The refresh rate of even high end ones is limited to like 10fps not to mention the horrible lag. Realvnc would be a good one but not practical at all for what you are trying to do.

Use Hamachi, and use Windows' built in Remote Desktop Connection.

However:  This tool is only useful for remotely accessing or viewing information or files.  You cannot play games or do anything that would consume the bandwidth too much because for one all that you see is still being rendered locally on your computer.

If you want to play games over the internet via streaming, look into OnLive.

if it's really necessary you could download the files on your computer in "temp" or something and move them via remote access to the computer you'll be on, then it'll be installed and you won't have to worry about registry crap

For slow paced games, like runescape, I'd use VNC.

For fast paced games, I'd just use Onlive.
