Author Topic: Save Bricks Password  (Read 3514 times)

Don't we just hate it when people steal our builds and say they built it? That is why I propose someone make a script that makes it require a password to save bricks. people should get permission to save bricks, Like admin, Hey that's a great idea! Make the script come with admin so only administrators can save bricks. The reason I am creating this topic is right here.

This is a terrible idea.

A big part of blockland is sharing your creations and letting others save them so they never die. I remember I was a savewhore back in V8, and I got some MIGHTY fine builds that no one knows about anymore, as clans such as TBC are dead.

If you don't want people saving your bricks, play in single player, or only with your friends.

OR put your name hidden in a save.

I'd find it the biggest compliment in blockland if someone saved my build and tried to say it was theirs. They must think it's REALLY good and want to get credit for it.

Suggested a thousand times.

You'll get told the same thing.

It can't happen. The most you could do is protect events.

There is a very easy fix for all of this nonsense.

Make your own custom bricks and do not share them.

This way, if people save, when they load, nothing works, as they don't have your brickpacks.

Was thinking the exactly same thing.

Like, taking every .blb in your Blockland folder and add a random line of code (abcd) after it. However it would take a lot of time.

Perhaps someone can make an add-on that does that :U

I'm quite sure that would just break your bricks.

If you don't like "build stealers", don't build in public (or at least password it for your friends).
You could also post pictures in Gallery to prove you built it originally.

If someone does this, I will personally steal it, fix it, and release it.

Then you'll have to deal with people saving your builds then.  It's a core feature of the game.  This whole topic is as dumb as those javascript crap things that try to stop you from saving images in your browser.  People like to save builds so they can look at them locally and play with them later, or maybe add on to them on their own server.
I thought this quote might be necessary.

I have done this.
I have two sets of bricks, my special code scrambled, and the public domain.
My 'Code Scrambled' bricks work fine..

...buut, I don't know WHY I did that since I cannot host a server anyway...

I love saving builds. That's one of the best parts of this. If Baddy ever updates it to make saving everyone's builds impossible, I'll be very sad.

Don't worry, it's not possible. No matter how much he removes, it can be rebuilt.

That's not true at all. It could easily be prevented. It's weird assumptions like these that make you look like an idiot.

Preventing saving bricks or preventing people from going around Badspot's code that prevents saving?

There is some information which can't be saved in such a way. But it should almost always be possible to recompose the bricks into a file. It might become complex, or guesswork with bricks, but unless all of our Add-On compatibility is removed, there should be workarounds.
