Author Topic: Mass Effect 2: Arrival DLC  (Read 990 times)

Arrival is ME2's final DLC.
It's out tomorrow now. 560 MS/BW points. $7 PS3 (rough equivalent).
Decisions will affect ME3 story, supposedly like LotSB will.

Accessible after Horizon mission.

"A deep cover agent is missing in Batarian space, after reporting evidence of an imminent Reaper invasion. Shepard must travel to the edge of the galaxy, rescue the agent, and discover the truth behind the Arrival. Uncover new research and 3 new achievements in this spectacular new adventure for Mass Effect 2."

"While Arrival isn't the bridge that many expected and might have hoped would extend the endgame of Mass Effect 2, connecting it to this holiday's Mass Effect 3, it still shows signs of being a good piece of DLC. The mission seems to be on par with "Lair of the Shadow Broker" and "Project Overlord" in its scope and delivery -- an action-packed add-on that extends the universe in a meaningful way."

Third page in less than a day. :o

Anyway, just beat it - roughly an hour and a half? of playability. Pretty cool. Great cinematics and cool places to explore. It leaves you hanging but the ending is badass. Its decently tense (no squad members can come). If anyone has a few bucks on hand and enjoys Mass Effect 2 I'd recommend this.

As for comparison to other ME2 DLC, in my opinion its on par with Lair of the Shadow Broker, but kind of short. I disliked Overlord so I'd say it's better than that too. Kind of short.

In that image, Shepard is holding a Mattock Semi-Automatic Rifle, does that mean you don't need the Firepower Pack to get it?

No new weapons were added with Arrival. Unfortunately you do have to purchase the Firepower Pack.

As far as I know anyway.

Good thing I already have it. Geth Plasma Shotgun, Phalanx Covert Pistol, and Mattock Semi-Auto Rifle rule! Kasumi: Stolen Memory, Zaeed: The Price of Revenge, Overlord, and Shadowbroker were all great, and Bring Down The Sky for the first Mass Effect was also pretty good, mainly for the Savant Omni-Tool or upper level Quarian Armor. Arrival will not disappoint. I never got to try Pinnacle Station, however...

Fire Walker was kind of cool, but could have been deeper in story. I guess it was mostly for the Hammerhead Car?(It's not a Tank, that's for sure.) I miss the Mako. :c

I'm getting ME 1 & 2 for my birthday yey

This is the only ME2 DLC I do not have yet. Figures after I went and got the Fable III DLC for the same price last week. Will most likely get it this weekend. Overlord was rather short and uninteresting, but Shadowbroker blew me away. I don't expect this one to top shadowbroker, but I'm sure it will be fun.

I found this GameInformer article that basically sums up everything and I totally agree with. Spoiler free.

Just completed Arrival... I'd say it was better than Shadow Broker, in terms of combat and story. One of the fights nearly got me killed at least three times, and that was on "Casual." I'm not ever attempting an Insanity playthrough, that's for sure.

Another masterpiece from BioWare, no doubt about it.
