I can see the position you're in and it's a fair enough point, I just am not entirely happy with the situation as a whole.

RTB doesn't block the usage of add-ons, and your ID was blocked from RTB to prevent you promoting or distributing your add-ons using the service. This is pretty standard for anyone else who has promoted failed add-ons, it's not a special case for you.
Tell me if I got it right; you banned IcyGamma/Sheath from uploading to the RTB downloads service because he distributed failed add-ons on his own website?

I'm not disputing my ban, it'd be foolish if I didn't foresee it. What I am saying is, I can understand you can't go against Badspot's view on how those add-ons should be handled, but why get involved at all? Remove the content from your distribution system, that is completely reasonable. But by going the extra mile and extending your moderation of these files beyond RTB or the forum shows that you must have more interest than just keeping level with Badspot. Nobody puts extra effort into addressing something that isn't on their agenda.

This is correct. I did not post the link on the RTB or Blockland forums, it was entirely external.

Although, Winbin was a website designed to challenge RTB's philosophy. It was a protest if you like.

The extra mile is a couple of feet in terms of what I have to do to ensure people don't submit failed things to RTB or advertise them in file comments which I'd then have to deal with down the road. It's just a precautionary measure. I don't really have much of an interest in preventing the spread of failed add-ons beyond RTB or these forums, the only implications are probably more help topics/support emails about broken installs which I'm not too fussed about as I'm not obligated to deal with them.

IcyGamma never advertised his website in the file comments, nor did he post failed add-ons on RTB. He shouldn't be punished for something that isn't part of your service.

It's just a precautionary measure.

A precautionary measure is taken in advance to protect against something that may occur in the future. People have spammed comments with ads and tried to submit failed add-ons in the past so now I do this to avoid having to clean up after them.

That is equal to killing Albert Einstein because his relativity theory made the atom bomb possible.
Besides, winbin is gone now, so Icy should be unbanned. I doubt he'll put it up again.

I do understand both sides, but I agree with Pentium. Icy should be unbanned now, he has learned his lesson.

If you don't like it, start up your own add-on hosting service and see what happens. I can't guarantee Badspot will be happy with you, but that's your problem.
it's too bad it'd have to use some form of a password and/or key confirmation and you'd use that as an excuse to get rid of competition.

Yeah well RTB's my only source of income, which I may lose with competition. Can you blame me for wanting to be able to put dinner on the table every night for my wife and kids?

your attempt at making a joke basically makes it clear you have no real argument here. but to play along, that basically means i'll have to go and kill every other freshman honors teacher statewide.
honey get my shotgun.

What doesn't make sense about the ban is it prevents me from downloading or adding files to the content system. I wouldn't go through the effort of setting up an unpublicized website to go slap something you consider damaging on the RTB system which wouldn't make it past inspection anyway.

I'm not interested in an unban, I can just manually download mods and my add-on uploading days are over (not that they really started, I've never made anything more technical than an emote). But Ephi, you can't downplay the ban as a precautionary measure, because not only did you ban me from your service but you also told me how you wanted my key revoked. Thats not a precaution, that is an all out attempt to exterminate me and the Winbin website.

You are putting more emphasis on keeping failed addons out of the public domain, your actions have spoken louder than your words in this case.

It's not like I was making an effort to have your key revoked or anything. As I recall I said it was a possibility that it may get revoked (note that I play no part in key revocation decisions or anything key-related), and I certainly wouldn't be opposed to it happening since your Winbin site was a pretty obvious attempt at being a pest.

Only to you.

My respect of you went from 0 to -0. Congrats.
