Author Topic: AT&T to Impose Data Caps on DSL, U-Verse Customers Starting May 2  (Read 6835 times)

now that I look at it it seems substantial only problem is now my parents are probably going to monitor the amount I use anyway

note how there are email limits lol.
this is because it does not take a business class internet to spam a million people a day.
this is more then being cheap bastards, its efficiency of bandwidth and classing of packages.
Actually, it's less of being a richard.
It's easier to communicate via IM.

Yes they do? You don't know their statistics, they were obviously losing money off those customers, or the profits weren't enough to justify servicing them. ATT has some pretty smart people bro, they make billions of dollars a year.

and bisjac, i dont think they're limiting emails, they're just saying thats an example of what you could use in a month.

They were paying for unlimited. They should just raise the price bar, not just limit it for everybody.

It's note even a real limit. A tiny percentage of people will reach it.

oh i know. people just dont realize how far bandwidth really goes.
they are so use to downloading 500m files. and with modern speeds they think its no big deal.
but they dont stop top think that they aren't downloading large amounts of data like that 20 times a day lol.

and if they are, they should be spending 100+ bucks a month for faster internet anyways.
(by some crazy coincidence, paying for more speed gives you way way higher download limits. crazy!)

------------------

personally im happy many providers are beginning to make limits.
this makes my high end package worth while, instead of some cheap bastards in the neighborhood sapping my cap speed during the evenings.
forget those guys

^oh okay. i was surprised you thought that :P thanks for clarifying

2% is a lot of gamers.

2% is a lot of gamers.

Playing a game probably doesn't even use that much bandwidth, you already have all the models and other large files on your computer, it's not streaming you huge files. A tiny percent of ANYONE, gamers or not, will reach a limit like this.

games dont use much bandwidth at all. unless you host some dedi that is active with a dozen or more people 24/7, all month.
of which you shouldn't be a cheap ass and use some stuffty 2001 standard 2mbit connection anyways. its 2011 now. gamers should have at least 8mbit connections, or fail.
dont complain about being treated like some poor dial up user, when your paying for crap.

hosting dedis might get annoying, If you use your computer for everything else just as frequently-

oh hey

hosting dedis might get annoying, If you use your computer for everything else just as frequently

Just pay to have your dedi hosted somewhere that actually is capable of hosting a good dedi anyway. A standard home connection is stuff for your average game server.

Look at how many customers AT&T has. Then measure what 2% really means.

Still, you won't understand hence you're not a part of that demographic.

Oh christ. Are you really not listening at all? Try reading the last few posts before you reply again.

You're saying that we should be sacrificed to the greater good.

If it isn't that, explain because I can't brain properly today.

im using quest DSL here. upgraded from comcast cable because fiber is now in my area.
im paying $60 a month (will bump to $120 in 6 months after special deal) for a 60Mbps/7.5M connection.
no limits at all.

while the stuffty package here is some 1.5Mbps for $25. 100g monthly limit lol

you see? you get what you pay for. poor people do without, while those with money dont get slowed down and can enjoy life.

everything seems perfectly normal here.

I don't think you can "brain properly" any day, from what I've seen of you. If you honestly think you know more about this than bisjac then i'm content to stop arguing and sit back and laugh at you.
