My freshman year of high school was pretty goofy so I can't really give you any great advice. There's this thing in the US called the IB program, which is basically like AP except European and accepted at less colleges. My high school had some silly pre-IB program that you had to take for two years (never saw it again at any school that offered IB courses), so I was in classes with a bunch of other people who were kind of geeky. It was also an inter-city school. Then we had a bad hurricane around October that closed down the school for over a month, a bunch of people lost their homes, parts of our gym collapsed and the auditorium eventually had to get demolished because of asbestos and mold. After my first year at the school I moved all the way across the nation and went to a totally different school.
Just some general advice I guess, join some clubs because it's a good way to meet people and make lots of friends.
