Now, I know, graphics don't make up a game.

But they DO make the game more fun on some levels.

You see, graphics add to the atmosphere. They give you something to look at, eye candy basically. You see, here's an example, GTA IV. Everything is brown and stuff, and it's all depressing. This decreases the fun of the game, making it more boring to look at and such (atleast for me, cause I play on a console and there's nothing much to do here). Saints Row 2, however, has a more "happy" look to the game, even if that graphics aren't all that great. You see, the contrast and the shade of the colors makes it seem more fun. This is just my view, however. Discuss.

They're both basically the same, but ArmA 2 looks better overall. I find it more fun.

Even though I had a blast with GTA IV, I agree. Good graphics make the experience more engaging, fun, and interesting. It's possible to go overboard with graphics, though.

"these graphics are so good that im not having fun"? huh?

It is perfectly possible to go overboard. Some games try to make the game too realistic. If that's the case, you have to buy all of this extra computer stuff. I can't play Supreme Commander on lowest settings with a decent computer.

Uncharted.

You can't see stuff, but it looks nice.

Minecraft recieves up to 90% of it's addicitveness to the simple graphics.

Sometimes simple graphics look better than overhauled stuff.

On GTA4 i just boosted some graphic option to the max and the sky was a vivid blue, evenings were orange and stuff, and it was a lot more pleasing

I still like 2D sprite games like Metroid Fusion best <3

Type of graphics need to reflect the type of game it is.

graphics = important, but not the primary concern. should at least be comparable to other games in the same genre released within a year or so of it.

i'd have a lot more fun with minecraft if it was more detailed so you could build small things instead of huge monstrous impractical buildings if you want detail.

I prefer Cel Shading with generic or realistic lighting.
