If I found this on my Phone I would take out my SD card and light it on fire.
I don't own a SmartPhone

Since the death of my computer I've been thinking about this. Without a PC to play my favorite game, I find myself occasionally bored on those rainy days. Since then, I had purchased a New Droid X and have been exploring its capabilities. I soon realized the abundance of Applications in the Android marketplace. Judging by its sheer power and ability to support console games such as Need for Speed Shift and Madden 11, I find that it could be very capable of running a low-end version of Blockland. Of course I'm not into all of the SDK tools for app developing but that's only because I'm missing my computer. With that said, I have decided to suggest making a Blockland App for Android and maybe even IPhone. I think it would be a great leap into the world of handheld gaming and more importantly spreading the word of this game to the world.

power? im rocking the droid2 right now, its a good little machine and all but i cant imagine our PC blockland being ported and actually running well.
just because phones can process and render video now dont mean they carry the memory needed. even a single player 10k limit game would require more then the best phones currently have (to run nicely)

blockland would have to be remade as a phone app version. so it wouldn't really be the same game anymore. would likely suck.

besides, the droidx has like the largest screen of any phone so far, but blockland is notorious for its aliasing. it couldnt possibly look good on a smaller res then even our pcs.
1920x1200 with zero AA looks like horsestuff as is.

No no. I mean like a building app to port builds to the game. You could have a grid on the present grid to change screens while not having to control your charecter.

so you want an app that has blockland-like building?

that's probably more probable than a full-blown app.

All in-game remain on computers.
No one is going to make Blockland on mobile devices or consoles.

A BUILDING APP!!! Im not talking about porting blockland. Just an app that could run a much smaller non-physics based building so you can build on the go. Link it to the forums and whatnot so people can upload via 3g or wifi and download builds for exploration. No servers or characters running around and therefore almost non-existant lag. Even if it does run slow you can buy a real nice overclocking app for 2 bucks or have an overclocker built in. And then you'll still have your video settings. If somebody could pull it off I'd be very happy. You could even charge people for it.

He means he wants an application that works like LEGO Virtual Designer, only for Blockland.
You'd create the build you want, and then export it to your computer as a .bls file.

NO.
when the forget will you idiots even think before posting this stuff. blockland is on the TORQUE ENGINE FOR PC, and it will STAY that way. it wouldn't even work because blockland uses so many goddamn keys you'd either lose a lot of functionality or you'd have the most godawful control scheme since katamari damaci.

no he changed his mind midway into the thread because he realized "OH WAIT I'M handicapped." because A. this is in the BLOCKLAND suggestions and requests and B the title clearly says BLOCKLAND for phones.

NOTE: I said "Low-End" version in the initial topic.

"low-end version" =/= something completely different that only takes one aspect of the game and simpifies it

Anyways, I would like to get back to what we were talking about and not letting this turn into a flamefest.

The community doesn't care if your computer is broke so you can't play "your favorite game". They only care about keeping things in certain places, when one thing is ported to another console, it'll get their panties bunched up. And in other words, this wouldn't work. The fact that SmartPhones are tiny, it would make buildings an inconvenience. It would take about 5+ seconds longer to place a brick than it would on the computer. Add that up, a 100 brick build would be about 8.5 minutes longer. Therefore, it would only produce small builds and not full-medium scale builds; of course, small builds aren't "suitable" for the Gallery, especially if a lot of people use the app and lots of small builds were added.
