Mac vs PC: An unbiased view from someone who has used both

To me it seems like the Finder in my Mac makes everything much more organised...

I can't really define a significant difference between folder browsing in the recent Explorer and Finder. They are both very similar really. Although I do like smart folders in OSX, they can make life easier.

Imo the macbook is smexy as it is, doesn't need a major upgrade, but yeah, would look lovey in a clamshell :D

This isn't a thread for unbiased views, especially considering the fact that all views are biased.

But I digress, Apple is an interesting company.  I've seen the good and bad out of Apple.  They come up with technology never seen executed as well as they do.  Their hardware is truly incredible, the capabilities that it has.  My problem is with the company itself.  They do things, such as loving the developers of apps by making specific coding languages unavailable on the iOS platform, or by putting limitations on their hardware.  The iPod device should have a higher quality sound.  The iPod produces 128Kbps, while the Zune HD has 320KBps and the Zune is smaller.  Zune, even with its tiny base, has a $15 a month unlimited download plan, while Apple has you paying $1.29 a song.  The little stuff like that stirs me up.  I see Apple, and I see a money-hungry corporation that isn't interested in its community.  They don't care about providing the BEST services, they only care about providing GOOD services.  They know their base will eat up whatever stuff they spit out.

Hmm, I'd prefer paying $1.29 per song as I rarely download music. $15 a month would be overkill, you end up paying more (unless you find yourself needing just under 14 songs a month).

two '07 iMacs upstairs, been usin' one of em for... well, since 2007.

just bought this cheap-ass Dell a week or two ago, installed a better GPU today. more RAM is coming tomorrow. Personally I can live with either OS but prefer Windows since its SO much more customizable. And not even only the OS, I love upgrading/building computers and with OSX that's not really an option. You can build Hackintoshes, but... they're hacky and yeah.

Apple puts a lot of love and care into their products, even if its artificial and overpriced. They rely on brand loyalty, so I do believe there is an element of care in their business plan...

That is exactly how I used to be.  Zune is honestly the best thing to happen to me, media-wise.  I have a little under 4,500 songs.  I didn't spend $5,750 on that, I spent about $135.  Zune also puts an amazing, yet under appreciated or small-time, band in the spotlight once a week.  Often, they will have a few tracks that are free.  They have a system set up that suggests music you will like based on what you rate "Like" or "Dislike" and what people similar to you are listening to.

Zune, to me at least, just seems to care more.

Every single one of my friends that has used my Zune and listened to my music has been like, "Wow, as soon as my iPod breaks I'm getting one of these things."

Zune has a hard time as well, because Apple pretty much defined portable music and online media downloads in last decade with their iPod, whether or not their product is a better audio device. But with a Zune, you lose the app store which I think is Apple's key in keeping the iPod fresh.

That is definitely something I miss, but the Windows Phone 7 App Store is growing every day.  If you use Zune though, that is something you have to part with.

I sorely miss MiniGore, PocketGod, and the Settlers.

I currently use both platforms, and its generally been that way my whole life. My desktops have and probably always will be Windows based, and my laptops Apple based. If I ever have a few grand to spare, sure I'll buy an iMac, but that won't be for a while.

Oh my god you're more stupid than I thought if you pay for one song at a time on iTunes. Albums, bro, albums. It's how the artists meant for their art to be listened to. And anyways, it's 2011. Music is basically a secondary function of the iPod.

Anyways, think what you want about Zunes and stuff. I don't really want to argue because I know it won't do any good.
