It's funny though. America was actually based on a Republic and not a Democracy.

the definition of a republic is a government with a monarch. the majority of all the world uses republic governments. republican party =/= republic government

go get a dictionary. look up republic.
as per the merriam webster's collegiate dictionary tenth edition that i never leave home without:
Republic: 1 a (1) : a government having a chief of state who is not a monarch and who in modern times is usu. a president
