Well how long is a while?  It wont be top of the line in 2 years.Actual hardware's power plays a significant role in gaming.
The funny thing is for the same price as the base Alienware model one could get a MacPook Pro with a faster proser than even available for the Alienware, with the same amount of memory. The only downside would be that the equivalently priced model has integrated graphics, but I doubt a lower-end mobile card could top that by very much.

The m17x is a 17 inch, the 17 inch mac starts at 2499. Stop being a fanboy and admit that a mac laptop is terrible price to performance

Oh god what the hell Tom.

The Alienware is suppose to be a sleek, gaming focused ultra portable computer. Comparing it to a 13" MacBook with integrated graphics has totally devalued your argument.

EDIT: Oh wait I thought we were talking about the Mx11

Ditch those laptops and use your cash to upgrade your current one.

Upgrade + laptops = limited

What a poor suggestion

Great idea.
I'll call you about invading other planets when I'm World Overlord.

It's called BootCamp. You can literally do anything you can do on Windows on Mac now.
Don't even try to pull this stuff. You have to pay another 200 dollars to buy the Windows OS for one, and for another loving thing, it's laggy as stuff.
Don't
even
try.

Upgrade? Nop, for one thing I'm probably gonna sell it to my brother, and for another, it's like impossible to upgrade.
Well how long is a while?  It wont be top of the line in 2 years.
I'm not hugely concerned about it being top of the line, just so long as it can run high-end games in two years or so.

^Only 2 years?  I would expect like 3 or 4 out of this laptop, seeing as its the only 6 core for domestic sale i've seen.

I just customized the Battalion with pretty much the most expensive everything, and it's $2,500 less than the way I once customized an Alienware. And the Alienware wasn't as good as this.

Mother of God, I'm buying from iBUYPOWER from now on.

Oh, sweet. :D
So I'm assuming you guys think I should buy the Battalion rather than the M17x with the highest hardware?

Jesus approves.

Yeah, its only a few hundred more and it kicks ass.

Alright, forget that colorchanging stuff. :cookieMonster:

Tom

People don't seem to realize how Mac laptops have gotten much better in the last few years.

Don't even try to pull this stuff. You have to pay another 200 dollars to buy the Windows OS for one, and for another loving thing, it's laggy as stuff.

I can run games at decent settings fine on BootCamp.

And you are are seriously going to buy from "iBuyPower"? Just google "iBuyPower reliability" and you'll see how you get what you pay for. Just the fact that they let you put a 6-Core in a laptop shows how they don't know what they are doing. Chances are they are offer these "unbelievable specs" to get you to buy their badly built computer because you can't even find anything comparable so you think it's the best.

Also, just getting "the highest hardware" is probably pretty stupid. Sure, you may not need battery life upgrading everything probably hurts it.

Apple also has the highest customer support ratings according to consumer reports.

The internet's critics don't know anything, Tom.
WIMP.com had a very low rating on a review site, for not being child-friendly.
One of WIMP's goals is to be appropriate for all ages.
