The internet's critics don't know anything, Tom.
WIMP.com had a very low rating on a review site, for not being child-friendly.
One of WIMP's goals is to be appropriate for all ages.
For the most part the gaming community isn't too satisfied with iBuyPower:

As I said in my early post, it seems like they are just offering extremely powerful computers at low prices. They probably don't care how reliable it is. It's simply too good to be true.

If you're going to spend 3000 for it you might as well get a PowerBook. Mac Laptops are so much better and probably won't fall apart in a year.

buying a mac to run windows so it can run games?

As silly as it sounds, it's something that should be considered.

Also if you haven't already, look at this review. http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=5958&review=clevo+x7200+avadirect You will find that it runs fast and has average construction, but also has a bad keyboard/touchpad, and gets a whopping 29 minutes of idling battery life.

No it's not.

Say it with me
"Apple sucks."
You're no better than Tom.
Both of you, ever so kindly, get the forget out.

By the way, PowerBooks can't use Boot Camp.

I think I would get Alienware.

I hear they make good stuff.

I explained this to my coworker who does nothing but play World of Warcraft and wanted the most kickin' rad box for his 32" LCD screen to play WoW on:

Alienware is good if you do not know what you're doing. If you can assemble a good computer with your own knowledge, don't buy AW. If you just want to throw money at the problem and get a nice looking computer that also runs well but costs a little bit more, by all means go for Alienware. That's totally up to you.

Laptops.

Desktop i7 processors.

Anyone else seeing something wrong with the power consumption?

No no no no no it's not.
I have helped friends install Windows on their Macs. It makes it laggy as forget, and there are things that don't work correctly.

Battery Life
The X7200’s battery, while rather powerful, only sustained the X7200 for 29 minutes idling; it functions more like a UPS (uninterruptable power supply) rather than a battery. I am not surprised. Speaking of power, it is worth mentioning that the X7200’s massive power brick is rated for an astounding 300W and weighs about three pounds by itself; for comparison, the power supplies that come with most notebooks are rated for 65-90W. Using my Kill-A-Watt I saw the X7200 pull 296W under full load; at idle it consumes between 120 – 150W. A typical notebook consumes about 20-30W of power at idle.
Gaming laptops are a joke...

I've been using BootCamp for windows only games for like a year now and it works fine.

Maybe you confused BootCamp with VirtualPC, which is extremely laggy.

Jesus tits.  I'd buy that for long-term trips, wouldn't even dare use it for school.

Yes, never buy a Mac with the pure intention of running Windows. It makes no sense.

Oh, ew, Bootcamp? That software is total stuff. It's laggy - not to mention you can't share files with your Mac like you could do in Parallels or anything similar.
Point is, installing Windows on a Mac is spending much more than you need to, and it sucks.
Not to mention that the Mac itself would be overpriced. The hardware is total stuff for the price.

Okay guys, I might also consider this because the site has better reviews than ibuypower (from what I've seen anyway):
http://www.avadirect.com/gaming-notebook-configurator.asp?PRID=18340
The only thing is there's nothing on the page that says how long it'll run on battery.
