No battle sounds on TF2?

Because google and friends on TF2 have been useless so far.


I can't hear any battle sounds at all on TF2, this happened quite recently. I can still hear the announcer saying "VICTORY!" but no gunshots, taunts, explosions, sentry beeps etc. etc. I can still hear the button presses and music on the menu, however.

Help please.

Also, if you have a headset and it has it's own volume knob, check to see that it's not turned all the way down.

maybe it's due to the language your steam is set at or something
