Author Topic: The Bible is interpreted in a wide variety of ways.  (Read 8383 times)

I've known this for a very long time.
More recently, I've begun to notice it being more common than I used to.
Many different parts of it are interpreted in many ways.
For example, the subjects of homoloveuality, other religions, procrastination, etc.
These separate interpretations are what led to there being multiple divisions of Christianity. But even within those subdivisions, people have disagreements with each other. Like, on the subject of where the Bible says humans were created in God's image. I believe that it means that we share similar emotions, morals, and such things. But Pew believes that we share similar physical appearance. While Wynd Fox over here thinks that it means that people were created how God wants us to be.

Try and post other disagreements, and if they're interesting enough, I'll add them to the OP. I will probably do some research on whatever you post, to see if there are other sides of the argument, since that's pretty cool to me.

If people are too damn immature to keep on the topic at hand, then sure.

I'm not Christian lol.

Skelo, there's no reason not to like any group of people in general.

I think God created us in his own image, meaning we are what he thinks we should be. Not necessarily like him in any way, merely his thoughts.

I hate when people believe that we are forced to follow every command in Leviticus when it was not aimed at modern day Christians.

I also dislike people who force their beliefs on others. (Ultra Republicans, etc.)

Yeah like the whole polygamy thing, it was the norm back then.

the bible isn't true. simple fact, anyone can put anything in a book and then write in "it's true cause god said it is." just because a book says it's true doesn't mean it is, it's just man's way of manipulating other humans into their false pretext of good so that they can feel accomplished.

I'm adding that one.

Nothing could have been aimed at modern times.
Even if God knows everything before it happens, it would be dangerous for people that far back in time to know even the slightest bit of what's going to happen now.

That's not what this discussion is about.

it's interpreted in many different ways because that's man's way of manipulating people into a false pretext. the same principals used in interpreting the bible were used in writing it.
