TF2 stops loading when I join an online server.

Okay, so I bought TF2 two days ago, because I am a noob, I decided to do some offline play to get a feel for it. The game works great! And I love it. After about an hour of playing offline, I wanted to play online. I went to the server menu and joined a server. It started to load fine, then it stops at like 3/4 of the way, then it goes unresponsive. Is there a way I can fix this?

It usually takes a while for me when it gets to the client part

This used to happen to me. It was mainly because my graphics weren't sufficient enough. I'd double-check that your GPU and your CPU meet the requirements.

Yea I don't think graphics requirements change while going online.

It works now. :3 But sometimes I crash in the middle of the game, but I think that is normal.
