You know about it now. When you did find out your first thought appears to be "why didn't they tell me?" then you made a topic about it instead of checking on "one of your best friends".

You want to know why they didn't tell you sooner? Because they were too busy worrying about Matt themselves to call everyone he knew and inform them. If my best friend tried to kill himself, I wouldn't call all his other friends and tell them, I would get the forget over there and talk to him.

They didn't have time to tell you so they left it to faith that you would find out somehow, and you did. I don't know how the forget they found about it but I'm sure spreading the news was the last thing on their minds.
