The version of TGE Badspot has doesn't support direct stream audio input, he'd have to edit that into the source code somehow.

Why hasn't anyone thought of this?

Party Chat.

X Box has this. Why not us? Just listen to people in your party and that's it. Besides. What are the chances of a six year old having a computer microphone?

How about somekind of text to speech machine like in spacestation alpha or whatever that NASA game was
I still think turning text into voices would be amazinger ;D

I love it when people listen to me. Honestly though, that would be a joke, and people would just abuse it with spam (as scene in the Moonbase Alpha video).
As far as normal voice chat goes, Badspot doesn't need to go through all the trouble when as others have already said, you can just use Skype.

No. That would be even more pain and drama with people wanting to be in parties and whatever... anyways parties are a bad idea as it restricts communication within the server. Also, the chances of a six year old having a mic are very great, as proven by Call of Duty.

The version of Torque that Blockland has doesn't allow it, I think.
I believe that voice chat was added at some version, but if Badspot updated it would require a lot of work.Do you know him in person?
No.
Don't call him Eric.
Are you just making it up? cause Torque can handle it just he chooses not to put it in.

Agreed vividly.

We should have a voice system because mostly people spell like this:
"ca n i hav admeen". This is nonsense. In real life, most people can talk properly.

For one, this is the wrong section.

For two, I think the current Torque engine Blockland uses does not let you.

For three, before you would get to a stupid mute button someone can already blow your loving minds away.

For four, on a big server this can easily make people leave, a lot of people hardly use the mute function in VALVe games, I wouldn't like to imagine it in a Blockland server. Too many trolls with unconfigured mic or such.

For five, most of the players on Blockland are <13 years old. However, they do own a microphone, and their voice is loving annoying in manners noone can understand.

If you really want to voice chat just do it with your loving friends on Skype or something.

Russian, German, [insertalotofcountrieshere] kids that talk in English.

Ok your point is totally valid.

I am not saying all of them are unable to talk that way, some peopel are actually mature, not kids (or kids?) and can talk just right. But think about it for a second you are talking about an entire server not your friends.

That would be nifty. But little freakin 9-year olds will be all like "AAAADDDMIINNN!!!!" or "JFREANEFK!!! I LIEK WAFFFFFFLESSSS!" or "BLALBALABLALABLALALBALALABLLA LAFLALALA!!!!!"

The problem:

Everyone is now using voice chat.
Everyone is very, very annoying today.
You mute everyone.
Someone tries to talk to you.
You can't hear them.

My point is that yes, you could mute people if they're annoying you but then if they stop being annoying and try to ask you a question you would never know, and they would never know why you're not answering them.

And how will you know when to say that?

Teamspeak?

(I think it's called that)

Hmmm...but what about those little screaming and complaining British kids.  And I think it would be hard to censor stuff like this.  "forget You"

Sure, but it will be too late when your eardrums have bursted before you mute them.

D/e Voice chat keybind - Toggle.
(Disables incoming chat.)
