Author Topic: ID overload. What will happen then?  (Read 3162 times)

It took years to get to 29K, so I don't expect many players to come. I doubt we'll reach 50K.

I think Badspot should work with VALVe and get Blockland on Steam. More new users means more money for Badspot, and a larger community and more ideas for us.

Good idea.

Aint' gonna happen, unless Badspot does some really funny stuff with the Authentication System.

But I believe that VALVe would likely allow Badspot to keep the authentication system the same, just Badspot would have to make the master server create new ID's from the Steam server's requests.

There is already key authenticated games on Steam. Steam gives you the key when you download it.

Exactly my point, the steam servers would only need to communicate with Badspot's master server to generate the next key.

He needs to upgrade though.  The master server is too slow nowadays.

VALVe might try to pull a fast one n Badspot...

Nvm, Considering the way he handled Lego, I think that Baddy will make a good decision.

Im not talking about IF it does get to it and then what happens, I'm giving a scenario that BL reached millions. What do?

It hasn't been slow for me at all.

Spend the millions he just earned on a better server.

There is always the possibility that Baddy will abandon the game

I doubt there will be an "ID Overload" because the server Badspot is running can probably handle many millions of these short, numerical values.

These ID's are more than "numerical values".  Behind each one is a player (Mostly each one)  if we had a million of ID's on Blockland, about 100k would roughly be active.  This is way to much.

What? Are you talking about the player that you run around with in-game? Because the master server does nothing with that, that's the individual host's computer.

the cool part about numbers, is that there are infinite of them.

Yes

You really don't know what your talking about.

The sad part about technology is it cannot handle ∞.
