Yes, physical adaptations require a long period of time, small mental adaptations however do not. Does it take thousands of years for someone to learn that a plant is poisonous, the ability to ride a bicycle, that a type food is tasty? How is that so different from achieving peace among humans.The world can change in a lifetime, do not doubt that.
