Author Topic: New computer, no increased performance  (Read 2055 times)

i would next attempt an older version of vid drivers to compare.
im not following the current models though, i dont know how old of drivers you can even find for your (possibly to new) card.

I came from an older driver. I installed the GPU with no internet, so I used the one that came on the disk. Same performance.

i don't get it. badspot posted them fps images of high permanence back in the day. so i would assume the game is optimized well enough. including how well openGL and everything renders out. though ive never tested my performance against a large loadout of bricks. things just looked fine.

what are you using to check for fps? i know some apps show a capped frames with certain settings.
or you arent syncing frames to your monitor or other app with low setting or anything are ya?

It's fixed. I disabled "Disable vertex buffer objects." I feel handicapped.

I get 80fps with 32x AA and 16x AF at 1080p and 250(ish)fps with 8x AA.

That being with my ship loaded.

There's definitely something wrong here. I get at least 70fps with an equal GPU, and a much much worse CPU with 8xAA edge detect, and 16xAF, while rendering 128k bricks.
Maybe a video setting from within Blockland is triggering an incompatibility. Switch every setting on Blockland (even in the advanced tab) to its opposite.

And, while I was typing this, he found out the problem.

I know how to make your PC run faster, give it legs.

Turn off all the AA and AF stuff and it will run MUCH faster.   If there are too many jagged lines, then run at a higher screen resolution - 1280x1024 or something.

I have a GTX285 card (MUCH MUCH older than yours) and I can easily get over 100fps with lots of bricks loaded, and in some cases 500-700fps.  With your card you should get over 100fps, even with 100k bricks loaded.

Another thing you can try is to go into the Blockland\config\server folder and delete your prefs.cs file.  blockland will re-detect your video card and write a new prefs.cs.  This might help.

You didn't read. It's fixed. I can get around 250fps with 8xAA now. 80fps with 32xAA. Both of those instances are with 55,000 bricks and also include 16xAF.

A problem is back. I'm getting 90 fps with no AA. Same settings.

Just did a test. I'm capped at 1,000fps when looking at the sky, but I'm down to 100 when looking at 56,000 brick. That's with no AA, no AF, and all graphics settings unchecked/turned down. Also, I'm running windowed at 1600x900. This problem came out of nowhere. I'm so confused.

Why is there no edit button here? Anyway, here's a semi chat log of me venting. It describes my problem in more detail.

Bones4: Bottom post
100 fps is a problem, lol
Bones4: Sarcasm?
I am saying that that is what you were saying
Bones4: That's with no AA or AF
Bones4: With those, I'm getting 30fps where I used to get 250
And it is over thrice standard NTSF FPS
Bones4: YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND LOL
Bones4: My performance has DROPPED
Bones4: Using the same settings (AA on, AF on) My fps dropped from 350 to 30
 But it is massively high
Bones4: 250*
Bones4: IT DOESN'T MATTER
Bones4: It means there is a problem
Bones4: Plus, 30 is low enough to feel plenty jumpy
Bones4: Do you understand? lol
Bones4: With my Graphics card, I should not be getting 30fps in BLOCKLAND with 16x AA
Bones4: I was getting 3x that amount a week ago
Bones4: Something changed or broke
 Ah
Bones4: I've disabled all graphics settings and turned AA and AF off
Bones4: And I'm still getting the same FPS I used to have with all of those on
Bones4: Unless I want horrid jagged edges (no) I have to play on my ship at 25-35 fps
Bones4: On PC, 30 fps is much more noticable than a console
Bones4: And there is reason for that
Bones4: Regardless, it's been jumpy as hell
Bones4: And I should not be dealing with this with my hardware
Bones4: And it's infuriating :/
 I see
Bones4: I reset my GPU settings to default
Bones4: no change
Bones4: Also, Crysis still runs fine
Bones4: Crysis maxed out is running faster than Blockland right now

Latest video drivers?

Yes. Nothing changed.
