-A damaged space craft lands on a space center runway at A-120 airbase. The passengers, from the UK and USA, were some of the last evacuees of their country's. A small meteorite had struck the ship when it was traveling at light speed, damaging one booster. The meteorite was absolutely tiny - less than a quarter inch - but at the speed the ship was traveling magnified the damage. This slowed the ship down, and extended their journey by 2 years. All people aboard the ship were emaciated, running out of food three days before. This adds 1,000 to Calder's population.

-A damaged space ship crash-lands on a space center runway at A-120 airbase, snapping off the wing. This space ship came from the doomed Earth, and was filled with evacuees from the USA and Canada. Several were injured, including the pilot, but this space-ship adds 1,000 people to the country's population. The cause is unknown, but the pilot says it was possibly a meteorite that struck the space craft and damaged the controls.

Crash landing planes are survivable, crash landing spaceships are inevitable deaths. Please revise your story.
