Author Topic: Battlefield 2 murdered my PC. FFFFFUUUUUCCCCkool kids klub  (Read 1978 times)

So I tried to launch BF2 from Steam. It did that first-time setup thing fine, until it started installing Gamespy Comrade. Gamespy took 2 hours to install, and when it finally finished, Steam tried to launch Battlefield 2. It sat on a black screen for approx. 3 hrs. I tried everything to get it off; Alt-ctrl-del, Alt-F4, Alt-Tab, not even the power button would work. I finally went an pulled the power plug to force it to turn on. When I tried to turn my PC back on, I got the error: "Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or siftware change might be the cause." I've tried starting Windows normally, I've tried Startup Repair, nothing works.

FUUUUUUCK.

WHAT DO?

How are you posting?

pretty sure this goes into games.

also your computer sucks.

also installing gamespy was the mistake.

How are you posting?
iPods have internet browsers.

Also, Steam wouldn't let me launch BF2 without Gamespy, so, >:|

And my PC can run Crysis 2. Nuff said.

Well I checked my PC, I couldn't see any mysterious devices.

Gamespy is just a masterserver-type thingy, only thing I know about it.

Game spy comrade nearly murdered my brothers pc. It murdered my pc's installation of windows xp though.
Story 1 - The murder (First thing that game spy did)
I googled world editor unlimited (For warcraft 3) and saw the first link was game spy. I clicked that. And clicked the REAL download link. Then a image of a rich man poped up and drive by downloaded a rogue antivirus that blue screens the computer every 1 minute. Safe mode wont even work cause it will just start up on there and cause BSOD. Had to upgrade to vista due to this stuff. Windows 7 wasn't even out yet.

Story 2 - The PC that has gone weird and it is still weird to this day.
When i was installing civilization IV it made me install Game(stuff)spy comrade. It started redirecting my internet explorer webpages (kongregate did it the most) and slowing down the computer to stuff speed. Uninstalling it did no help. And my antivirus never detected any viruses.

ITT: Game spy destroyed windows xp and made another pc weird. Game spy sucks.

1 Reason not to install Gamespy

1: IT HAS THAT ONE VIRUS LOGO THING. Idk, It was spy something.

BUT WHAT SHOULD I DO?
Its too late,
Blow the bagpipes.
Let it sit there, lifeless in peace.
OR, ..... Sorry, bud.

I think you guys are just idiots because I installed it perfectly fine, its just like some rip-off copy of steam.

lol people thinking Gamespy is an obvious virus.

I have a Rainbow 6 game from the 90s that has a GameSpy installer on it.
