Author Topic: Consoles + PC = Supercomputer?  (Read 851 times)

As you can see, computers are getting more advanced while consoles are already in the high standards. What if you were to combine your average computer with your PS3 or Xbox console?
Using the PS3 or Xbox hardware and power and graphics to power your computer could drastically improve performance.
Your thoughts on this everyone?

A PS3 can already run linux like a computer can. I don't know about the xbox though.

Consoles are computers basically. They are just cheaper and dependable that a computer that can run a game with the same specs but most of the time you can get a computer that can run games better than a console.

Man, someone is really uneducated...

Toasters can run linux.

You're completely wrong, computers are far ahead of consoles. Consoles are holding video games back, a good gaming computer can run games far better with higher quality than a console ever could. Consoles only run games smoother because they use lower graphics settings and many tvs are only running at 720p.

I will always prefer my computer to consoles because of the fact that I can simply upgrade it if it gets outdated rather than spending money on entirely new console.

My computer isnt great for most games which makes me sad so I have a ps3.

Now if i have a better computer then I would prefer that over any console.

wut? lol

consoles are way WAY behind computers. combining them wouldn't make the pc better at all. it would prob average downward lol.

even when the current consoles were new, they were not high standard. they were already behind the PC in quality.

PC > Consoles

The only reason I use PS3 rather than computer is for the controller and friends. (I know, controller may be hooked up to computer.)

Now why again are you gonna call Xbox high end this was a budget PC and beats Xbox in every category.

Not counting games (strange, I know), the only thing consoles have going for them is that they're cheap.

I've got my original Xbox running Linux right now.

Lol my computer was only 900 dollars or so, and it beats a xbox by large numbers. I can run l4d2 on high settings, and xbox can hardly run it. Why isn't Crysis on the consoles? Because they couldn't handle it. The only reason consoles exist is for family/friend play with just 1 console.
