Author Topic: Why do FPS games do this?  (Read 2579 times)

I've always thought the same thing. One thing with the crosshair I saw when I tried AA2, there was just a tiny, hard to see, dot that only told you the general area you're shooting at. It wasn't to be used for aiming because you would always miss but it was nice to tell you the area you're aiming at before you to to the sights.

All fast pace FPS has the eye mounted to the very top of the head, this eliminates players complaining about getting shot behind cover as they can't see the enemy. Also if you've played games such as Arma 2 there are these realistic tributes to the game. If you own BF2 get Project Reality, its loving amazing and I play it more then most FPS these days, realistic combat but isn't totally handicapped when it comes to controls.

If you're asking for these sorts of things on console then you'd be complaining of the difficulty level of the game seeing as console you're a dead stuff standing in the open turning around slower then anything.

Overall you want some bullstuff controls game that stops players running around like handicaps and forces players to properly use cover. You major flaw of "Owning your own company" is the fact no one would like to play these games, us game developers find people are stupid and like super basic things to do and they want all the power of the world in there hands. Your market is small and if its not a great game then it'd fail instantly.

Because first-person shooters are meant to be fun and easy to control.

So basically you want an FPS without a viewmodel.

Play GTA with that Russian dude in it, there's a mod that actually allows you to view it from a FP view.

Sorry. Current resolution screens can't support a full field of view compared to your eyesight.
If they did, most of these problems would be solved.

In some games u can see the legs like in crysis 2

Also, no hud. And no blood on screen.
Then it would be more realistic.

somebody should make a Mirror's Edge game
except it's a multiplayer first person shooter

Crysis shows body.
c:

How about an fps that shows my half transparent nose on one side of the screen?
(if you're asian you won't know what I'm talking about)

Left 4 Dead shows body on PC.
But when I do see the feet, and walk in circles I feel trippy :s

If you're Jewish you certainly would know.

Halo: Reach?

You can see your whole body in ARMA.
