Author Topic: Vehicle - Nuclear Submarine  (Read 3393 times)

This will be my first vehicle add-on... I have wanted a submarine vehicle for awhile... i know that the modeling part is kind of easy, not as easy as i thought...

This is an Ohio Class Nuclear Submarine.

I will try to make 2 types: Missile and Torcreep

I've got a general idea of what i would like the controls to be:
Forward - up button (normal)
Backward - down button (slow)
Turn left - left button (slow)
Turn Right - right button (slow)
Look Around - mouse
Fire Weapons - left click
Up in Water - Pg Up
Down in Water - Pg Down

And the driver can shoot torcreepes from the front / fire missiles from the top. They can both be used while submerged and while at surface.

Progress:

[X] Get Google Sketch Up
[X] Learn how to Model
[X] Finish Basic Model
[X] Find a Scripter willing to help (Blockstar)
[  ] Complete add-on w/ script
[  ] Post here!  :cookieMonster: :cookie:

I Don't Care That Its Not Blocko... it makes it more realistic.

Submarines in BL require an engine modification.
The collision and water systems aren't really coded for something like this.

I think it's possible.

You have to use Milkshape 3D ($35), Blender (Free), or 3ds Max ($3495) for exporting to .dts format, just so you know.

It would have to be a bot with 'swimming' speed modifications. It could work.

After the model is done send the .skp to me and ill script/export it.

If i script that I would defiantly include that.

Don't put turrets on. Make them a separate model.

ok... but it will take awhile... i have to get a lot of school work done... ugh

No, Google Sketchup allows you to, it's just a more complicated process.

Google Sketchup cannot export to .dts format, it has no plugin/exporter.
You can export to .obj then import into one of those programs to then export to .dts.

Okay, but when Strato left, he posted all his model and such he never finished and stuff like that. But in those files, I found a submarine ms3d, guessing you guys could use that instead and just script it?
