I'm not saying it's going to happen, but there's some science behind it. A couple of details I remember is that the moon is going to be closer to the earth that it (ever?) has been... effecting tides. Also, an escalated number of marine life have been washing up on the west coast. That happened before the "World Series Quake" in 1989.
