Author Topic: My Reasons for Being Atheist  (Read 17029 times)

Your mindset that Christians are brainless drones with 0 self motive for anything at all isn't exactly helping out here.

I may have been generalizing with that statement. I should have said, "MOST". Some people really do believe in their religion rather than just following it out of fear or the want to get into heaven.

Self (moral) Value =/= Respect in this context

When I mean self value, I am talking about thinking your moral foundation and belief of how you came into existance is completely justified because we are free to believe what we think is right because we just can.

Understatement of this entire thread. If that's true then though why do people supposedly go to hell for believing in something else even though they're a good person?

Here is religion in a nutshell.

The church believes the earth is the center of the universe.

Science believe the sun is the center of the universe.

Can you tell me which one of these beliefs would get you life imprisonment or death?

Thank god science because it got too out of hand for the church to control and now we are more civilized for it.

Niether; Each would more likely than not equally get you mocked in the public eye, though, seeing as the sun is the center of our solar system, and not the universe.

Because they are not "good enough" yet in God's standard because he/she has not accepted his grace through Jesus from the damnation caused in the Fall of Man

Romans 3:23
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

Romans 6:23
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

No matter how "good" we may seem in our own sense, we have sinned or done an action which displaces us with the perfection of God. We need to accept His grace given through the sacrifice of Jesus which God voluntarily gave to us. Of course you don't have to believe this, as I am only required to spread the word about it, but not actually argue to the point of conversion.

This. :D

If you replace everything that the god does, with other things, you get partially true/funny results.

Every time God is mentioned, replace it with Riddler
Every time 'Lord' is mentioned, replace it with Fuhrer
Every time Christian (Or anyone that would go to heaven) is mentioned, replace with German/Aryan
Every time sinners are mentioned, replace with Jews.

Boom. New bible for the national socialists. I shall call it:

Mein Kampf

If you're trying to compare Christianity to national socialistsm, then you really are handicapped.

I am only required to spread the word about it
since when?

since when?

Since this was written:

Matthew 28:16-20

16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

I am?

Because torturing millions of people because they don't believe what you believe is a common belief between God and Riddler.

So, I am comparing them, and calling me handicapped because of this makes no sense.

Perhaps you could illuminate me?

Anyone get the joke? Illuminate? Get it? Like, Illuminati? No? Read Angels and Demons...

Also, an excerpt from the bible:

Quote
005:009 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the
        children of Riddler.

005:010 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake:
for theirs is the kingdom of The Greater Germany.

This is only with the changes I made in my other post.

so godjesus is telling you to force your opinionsbeliefs down everyone's throat

yay religion!

Wrong, back then you would be killed for even having the thought that the earth is not the center of the universe.

Nope. We simply spread the word, making sure the faith is understandable. If you refuse to believe it, oh well, not my problem then.

"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you."
aka
"go into the world and make followers out of everyone"
well that's what it sounds like to me.
