Author Topic: My Reasons for Being Atheist  (Read 19955 times)

If he supposedly created us all, don't you think he would give a stuff or two about us? At all? Yet he doesn't seem to. No given presence of him at all, not a single sign that he's here.

And for the people who say he created us then moved on or whatever, doesn't that defeat the purpose of there being a god?

At the most basic level, God is someone to blame for your wrong doings. He's an expected savior. He's a supposed to comfort people into thinking they can redeem themselves from everything wrong they do. Which doesn't seem fair, because as humans we also have the right to believe whatever the hell we want.

People can still believe in an evil god if they want.

They can, but Christianity isn't the belief in an evil god. Christians say all the time that God loves everyone.

DOUBLEPOSTSHIIIIIT

Now, if you wanted to convince me of God's healing, you'd do a few things. First, you'd cut your arm off. Then you'd pray, and God would reattach it/grow a new one for you. That kind of reparation that's well beyond human capacity and well beyond the capacity of the mind to pretend. That'd dismiss the placebo effect. Then you'd do this again, every night for a month, and tally the number of times God reattached it with the times God didn't (using other limbs for the time he didn't). That'd show that you actually had a decent number of successes in comparison to your failures.
Doesn't really work that way.

If there is a predetermined future known by God, then without even doing anything you already condemned for evil.

Sounds like a stuffty god to me.

Pre-Destination for the win.

a priest could spend all day making you feel better when your prayers arent answered and stuff goes bad in life. you would end up believing god has plans and you arent allowed to know what they are or have any of your own. but its ok.

but the second you achieve something good, all credit goes to god lol.

its a lose/lose situation. you are always the bitch of effort in your meaningless existence if a god exists.

Why when there's a loving hospìtal?

That's a rather pessimistic view.  :cookieMonster:

Wait
I just supported God

Egh, copy and pasting sucks. :c

Doesn't really work that way.

God helps provide what you need according to His plan, not keep you from doing irrational stupid stuff.

hmmm...

I see you are trying to make a stereotypical point here.

Cutting your arm off in hopes of it regenerating is totally less stupid than believing in a higher being, pfffft.

not really. you are trying to prove something true or not true by collecting data. backing it up. and having a study to publish so future people can use it to study further. its science.

other then the "i was told about magic and just went with it" way i guess.

That's kind of like claiming to disprove gravity by demonstrating how a helium balloon falls up instead of down.

I'm pretty sure humans figured out arms can't regenerate naturally before our faith was firmly established. I don't think it was even in a scientific method way that they figured it out either.

well its not the best way to test the existence of god.

i would have babies+woodchipper
