Author Topic: THE WHOLE UNIVERSE: The scariest thing imagineable.  (Read 4989 times)

What my worst fear is - The end of the universe. Imagine the fact that eventually, there will be nothing forever.

And the worst part is that this could happen any day. Why is it scary? The sheer fact that it would happen and nothing would exist.

If everything disappeared suddenly, everything we've done would be worth no effort. Eventually, our whole dimension will die out, and there will be nothing there. EVER. This is scary because once everything is gone, nothing will come back.

Something cannot come out of nothing.

Now here's a concept to think about; what would happen if you were immortal? Eventually you will be stuck forever drifting through space. Why? Because if nothing can kill you, the end of time would eventually come right before your eyes, and you could do nothing to stop it.

It's said that as you grow older, time passes quicker in your mind, or whatnot.

This means that by the third century of your consciousness, time will be passing by as years would be seconds.

So being immortal would be bad.

Now then, discuss your thoughts on how scary the end of time is.

End of time isn't scary.

It's slightly sad to think that everything will end though. But not scary.

Well, I don't want to bring religion in this, but me, as being a Christian, would hopefully go to Heaven if it died.

This does bring up a good point. What if, God is an immortal being who was in the old universe. Then, when it ended, he came and made earth and the people and whatnot.

I think I just proved Christianity correct...

:o

what would happen if you were immortal?

I've talked about this so much with my friends.
If we were immortal, we'd be resigned to our fate, so you just pretty much just gotta accept you're not going to die. Ever.

Here's my immortal life plan:
400 years reading/studying the universe, people, history, everything.
400 years living in the forest and the mountains, training and hunting, survival skills.
then 100 years studying what happened while I was doing the above.
Finally, I'd emerge as some form of super smart, super fit human being and play with society while I could. Maybe try to take over the world? (Kinda hoping some Firefly style worlds emerge, so I can rule them, learn about them, develop...)

After that it'd just be doing what I pleased. Scary stuff that I've never had the courage to do, stuff I've not had time for, etc etc.

And when we knew the time was coming, I'd sit somewhere with all of my current friends (if nature permits them to live), then watch the sun go out for the last time. Then Earth would kick my butt and I'd be forced to spend eternity in limbo/space.

Time doesn't pass quicker as you are older, you just don't remember a whole lot, hence making your journey from point A to B in a certain timespan seem shorter.

Reminds me of that episode of Spongebob

dat relativity

If I get immortal, my immortality life plan would be:
300 years body training
300 years mind training
20 years taking over the world
10 years hiding in case above fails
Rinse and repeat.

I have the time, so why not.

I thought the end of the world had already happened.

My mind training would be playing Portal and other Puzzle games.

It's not scary because you don't notice it happens, you don't die and best of all, you don't evin feel any pain.
If I were immortal I'd launch myself into space and drift off.
Forever.

My mind training would be trying to know every single loving thing in the world.

Basically, a super smart guy with insane strength and reflexes who MAY single-handedly take over the world. But if I'm not alone I'd like to fight with the other immortals.

This has epic potential.

Can't that laser that the Europeans are building tear a hole in space do something like this?
