These days, the only games you can really play with other people are tied to a code or an account of some sort. It's always better to have your own copy anyway.

just install steam on another computer and download the games
I did this, they appear in the library

downloading 4 gigabytes of game for one use is totally practical

Yeesh. Anyways, this isn't necessary anymore. I have decided not to.
