Author Topic: Event: Blackout  (Read 1917 times)

A simple edit of setDamageflash or setWhiteout.

Damage flash sets your whole screen red as if your getting hurt, whiteout does the same only white. I think there should be a Blackout that sets your screen black.

It would be useful for cut-scenes and transitions.

There was already discussion of this long ago, but I'm sure still searchable, about how normal users like us can't make an efficient variation of setDamageFlash or setWhiteOut in Blockland.

setWhiteOut and setDamageFlash are both default to TGE, aren't they?

They're part of the source, we can't edit them or make something exactly, and functionally, similar.

yeah, that's what i thought

I know that the ones we have cannot be edited, because I tried. But there must be a way around it..

There is not. Again, we had a long discussion about making other colors, and the only theories anyone had were hacky things requiring clientside Add-On download as well which would not function 100% the way wished.

Well, if a client side add-on also, any color flash is possible.

BlackOut is a client command, WhiteOut is server-sided, from what I can remember.

You described a flash bang.

I believe the only way to do this without being able to mess with the source code is to make a full screen GUI Bitmap whatever that would probably disrupt everything with a slow fade. It'd be exploitable and broken. The point of his request was for cutscenes and such, likely for people joining spontaneously. I'd defeat the purpose of the Add-On to force people to have it just for a simple effect. I really don't feel like trying to explain, I'm failing.

They're both clientside, and the server can tell their game to do it for some reason given. Although I think there is some minor differences with them... I'm, confusing myself, nevermind.

The forget are you even saying? Who described what? He's asking for a black screen overlay and you're going on about those? I hate you.

Who described a Flash Bang? Tell me, who? And more so, what does that matter to this topic? That does absolutely nothing, even if it had a reason to be said.

If it matters, I hate you also...

If this isn't possible or remotely simple to do then fine. It wont be done.
