Minecraft and Terraria are completely different games. Saying that they're the same type of game on only the fact that they both have randomly generated worlds and a sandbox building mechanic is just stretching it. Terraria is all about the combat, gear progression, and exploring caverns and dungeons for neat pieces of gear. Minecraft is probably the better game if all you're looking to do is build, because the combat in Minecraft is only there to impede your construction and not to provide any real semblance of challenge.

If you want a sandbox building game, Minecraft

Minecraft was a shameless ripoff of Infiniminer with some sandbox elements thrown in and all the gameplay taken out. It wasn't until alpha that Minecraft had anything redeemable about it to call it an actual game.
