Oh dear oh dear oh dear oh dear.

An easter egg doesn't count as an appearance, and what Anti-Block obviously meant was that it's been five years since we've seen the chief do anything new. Quit being such a literalist twit.
Actually, he was active during the Battle of Reach, read the Novel.
It's better to believe it to be true instead of random jetpack and convenient floating weapons :u
Not a jetpack, those are EVA thrusters which are present on his old armor. They're designed for moving in zero-gravity environments.

Structural failure in a vacuum is possible, yes, but I had the impression systems maintaining the parts of what was left of the ship failed along with minor structural disconnections, causing it to begin exploding. Although that's pretty far for an atmosphere, maybe the gravity. Also, we can't be sure of that.
If you look at the ending in Halo 3's Legendary Finish, then you'll notice that you see the planet.
This shows that Bungie was planning on giving the rights of Halo to 343 Studios all along, them continuing the story of the chief on this unknown planet made up of almost entirely robotic parts.
Hell, he was probably asleep for like, 3 minutes.

Better yet, the closing of the portal caused a time rift, and he was thrown into the past. He gets to meet all the Forerunners!

Iunno, I'm thinking tentacle monsters if you look at the poster.

Its possible that the armor in the trailer isnt going to be final.

In the Halo 3 trailer, it was shot using the Halo 3 engine while the Halo 4 was shot using CGs and such not the games engine. (IMO)

Also, in the trailer, it shows Master Chief putting a silencer on his pistol and the ship he was on being sucked into a massive ship... Who knows what they plan on doing :P

That isn't a silencer, that looks like whatever he shot to blow up what was in his way, he was reloading silly.

Microsoft is milking Halo for all it's worth which is why they bring him back to life.

It's like in Halloween when they killed off Micheal Myers only to bring him back later with a stuffload of sequels and remakes.

-a fourth halo-

Everyone: OMG MICROSOFT STOP MILKING

He was never dead to begin with.

I just hope he doesn't need to save another galaxy or anything.
Just survive maybe, and regroup with older Spartans from his old team not mentioned in game part.

I'm still wondering who the hell is the enemy now. I sure hope it isn't the forerunners or the covenant.
Maybe just sentinels and the flood.

We're still *technically* at war with the Covenant though, even though the Covenant Civil War is happening at the same time.

Actually, he was active during the Battle of Reach
Reach was the very first battle.

What battle number was Harvest?
