Author Topic: Crosshairs  (Read 10821 times)

I don't care about any flame I get about posting more crosshairs out of the UI dump, but I just wanted to put them on my own topic.
Simple as that.

Comment, comment, comment!

Note: these crosshairs are only 32X32, no matter how complicated they seem. They are not in any way overly detailed.

This is pretty small, though, to have its own topic, in the midst of another topic made for things like this, don't you think?

Rather make a topic of a creation and get comments on it rathen than posting it on a megathreat and have a huge chance of getting no comments for it also a huge change it to be lost by the next page, don't you think?

My ego demands fame.
My crosshairs demand downloads.
My thread needs criticism.

You're being stupid.
There, enough criticism for you?

My poll really isn't telling me enough.
Please comment, or else my head will probably swell into such magnificent proportions that it will never quite be the same again.

they look terrible, they are bad. the main problem is the green and purple. i suggest you remove the green and purple stuff, and add a white 1 pixel line around the black.

Finally! Someone says something interesting! These crosshairs are meant exclusively for use with the crosshair gui, which allows you to pick and choose crosshairs for different situations. I would in no way recommend using these by themselves, and so if you want a more realistic or less interesting crosshair, there are plenty of those around, and I hope you go and get one. However, these are still good for different situations: the different colors work better with different environments. So there. I refuse to remove the green and "purple."
Oh, and to top that off, I think I'll go so far as to say that a one pixel white line would not help in the slightest. These crosshairs were made in GIMP 2, which is very good for creating smooth circles out of not very many pixels. These are 32x32, mainly because they work best with the crosshair gui that way. So if I added a white line that was even just one pixel wide, it would mess up the whole crosshair.
There is no other good way to create a white boundary at this point, either. And, in my opinion, no reason to.

what situations would you use a green and purple crosshair that didn't allow you to aim in the dark?

I've found that the green one works very well in underwater and abovewater situations, not in the dark. It's a good scope for weapons with either larger projectiles or more scatter.
The blue one is the same, though I personally do not like it as much.

It's almost good enough for Blockland. Can you make a version without the green/purple and make that part transparent? Other than that, it has the same look and feel as the default. At least it's better than the completely useless "carrot crosshair."

8/10

I'll make one as close as possible. I can't do an exact version because you can't extract color, but I think that'll be pretty easy.

Added. It's a little dark, but that's fine, I guess.

Eventually someone shall release an add-on where your crosshair changes to the most appropriate one based on the scatter and properties of each weapon, just like halo crosshairs.
