Graphics don't make a game.

I was talking to a friend over facebook, about mw3 and such. I mention minecraft and he said the graphics were terrible and that he would never play it. This frustrates me. How can someone care about how much the game looks? Honestly I don't even care about graphics. IMO, its about the game, not the graphics. Your opinions?

Graphics are important.  Unless it uses an interesting art direction.

Minecraft uses an interesting art direction.

BF3 looks like love.  It does not use an interesting art direction, it just makes you feel like a rocket just exploded in front of you.

Graphics cannot be ignored, but should not be considered the only way to make a game awesome. There's such a thing like gameplay, sound, and etc. Gamers should criticize the game with the balance of these aspects.
