Author Topic: Bitcoin _ Online Currency of some sort?  (Read 25502 times)

I need to keep my parts cool and my computer working at max at the same time. I also need to learn a little more about mining.

Alright, sorry, not reading all 20 pages of the conversation, but I just saw this thread so...

I have the client and it's generated about 7500 blocks and increasing.

What do I do with this blocks? I don't have a very powerful computer, nor much of an income to get one...would somebody mind helping me out? This seems really cool I just need it explained to me :3 thanks in advance.

The Bitcoin client? You're going to need those blocks for mining later on. Just keep going until it reaches it's max of ~130k.

What's your hash speed?
150Mhash

What happens at max?

What happens at max?
At max you don't have to worry about downloading more blocks to mine properly.

I'm on Mac OS X. Does anyone know where to find the Mhash? My GPU is an Intel GMA X3100 (pretty horrible, I know).

Okay, what happens after I reach the max? As in, how do I start mining?

So I can buy a new PC?
Bitcoin can be converted to USD. It's like asking if you can buy an Xbox with Euros.

You should join a pool first, knowing how you can't really get anywhere alone with that graphics card.

This guide should explain everything you need, from flags, to how to converted bitcoins into euros, and how to join a pool and to get to mining properly.

Uhh, you may have to zoom in because tinypic resizes images.

Can I buy stuff on ebay or other sites?

You can buy cocaine and other drugs on the silk road.  :cookieMonster:

Other than that, you can use buy pretty much anything you want once you convert your Bitcoins to USD.

Also, I'm not really sure if guiminer will work on a macintosh, if not, then do a quick search on the bitcoin forums to find a compatible mining client.
