CPUs do take more electricity, but we're not deducting quality based on electricity, yet rather the mhash/s rate.
Alright, I may have worded that somewhat differently, but in the end you make more more money than the increase on your electric bill, giving you a proft.

You're loving stupid. Your argument took nothing into accepting the factual info I presented, which makes me think you're denying the fact that GPUs can solve hashes faster, which makes you handicapped.
I just said that GPU's are more efficient and better than CPU's, what the hell?

i would try it out i just need to ensure i have a decent fan, and i pull my computer away from the wall so it ventilates. i also need to just dl the stuff. i hope not everyone starts doing this or i bet the worth will go down by far.
This is why you should buy like 100 when the value is at 10$ and sell them later

Yes but your reasoning is redundant because even with most GPUs, if it's not good then you'll STILL spend more money on electricity then from bitcoin profit.

I'm in pool mining though.
I made a worker and everything for my account, my 'username' is DrenDran.main now.
I guess I'll wait for Tom.
You're using the pool hostname right? and  the port 8332, right?

I have "slush's pool" selected for 'website', but I never had to enter in a hostname or port.

There's your problem.

ahahahah. oh wow. no wonder they took forever to mine.

FYI: I deleted my miner for now. Not going to mine for awhile.

There's no where to set a hostname though.

Help me first?

I'm mining with a modern GPU and I'm finding that I'm getting more money than the money that's going on the electric bill. Sorry if I'm basing information on solely my GPU.

Is mining with a Mac any good? Because I have some mac's that I can put to use.

isnt that why you should mine in pools?

isnt that why you should mine in pools?
no the reason you should mine in pools is because instant gratification feels sweet.

Uh guys, where on the gui mining program do I specify a hostname/port?

Uhh, can you still answer my question?

Sev's being a dumbass.

slush's pool is correct, and you're working just fine.

10.8 Mhash/s. Dude, you're not going to make it. It's worthless if you try.

heed, while you are at it, get the following:

http://www.bitcoin.org Wallet

http://forum.bitcoin.org/?topic=3878.0 GUIMiner

http://github.com/downloads/m0mchil/poclbm/poclbm_py2exe_20110428.7z Updated poclbm

Extract the poclbm to the guiminer directory, and tell me when everything is done.

Let me find your GPU on the list.
All I did was make an account like in the second picture.
And set the settings on the first picture.
I didn't do anything else, in case I had to.

edit: oh wait what, 50 cents a month, well, maybe if I download new drivers....

Do you have any OpenCL devices listed? If not then you're going to need to download the ATI Stream SDK if you have an AMD graphics card.

If you don't then you can only mine on your CPU or CUDA since your graphics card might not support OpenCL.
