Author Topic: MUGEN! a fun 2d fighting game.  (Read 3346 times)

This is a simple 2d fighting platform meant to get your favorite characters into a dual to the K.O! Some characters can be bought, downloaded free, or even custom made.
ITS FREE BIZNITCHES.

It's a streetfighter based game, just to make things a little more simple. Here are some wonderful examples.

The Huds and character menus are also modifiable to support more slots and a fancier look!
Mugen is an easy edit program meaning most of it is customize-able! You can download maps or make your own!

Warning, the N64 version of Mario is terribly overpowered and will kill almost anything with a few quick moves. You can edit his power levels (hue) to be set to a more easy fight.
2 people can fight in this program, whether it be computer or human.
To find characters and maps, I recommend these websites.

I hang here mostly

You can find some well made characters such as Marvin the Martian here.

This is the old default Mugen screen before the new 1.0 version fancied it up a bit. This program offers a wide range of Cartoon characters and anime/manga characters. (but not by default)
When you start the program, you will start off with the basic 3 Kung-Fu Men. (which are hard as- ohey a squirrel)
To add characters (which is the only thing I know to do for now.) you must go into the base files of Mugen.

Step one:
DOWNLOAD MUGEN! http://elecbyte.com/ << WARNING! THIS HAS COMPATIBILITY ISSUES WITH WINDOWS 7 IF YOU DOWNLOAD THE WRONG VERSION...

Step 2: assuming you have already gotten accustomed to the interface, you must proceed into the internals...

I keep forgetting! You need to download a character first. Find a character the suits you, or one you just want to practice with.
Once you have the character file, drop it onto your desktop for later.

Go to where your Mugen file folder was installed to. Open the folder and drop your previously downloaded character file into the directory named, char*...

See the labeled folder that says char? You need to put your character file there.
Like so, I put MegamanEXE into the character folder. I am a genius.
Once that is done, you now need to edit a text file in Mugens data folder.

Go into data > Select.DEF > and find the section where it says to insert your characters file name...

TADA!!!!!
Start the game, and your new character should show up in the menu.

WOOOOOOO
If you are interested in making any personal characters, feel free to use this program... http://www.virtualltek.com/
Discuss and play!

IF you get stuck, PM me, and I will try to help.

Great, now how much does it cost?

Someone should make characters from the blockland forums.

And I take it every character save a very small amount will not be free?

No.
I have this somewhere on my computer with a hugeass collection of characters, and I didn't pay anything.
It's not DLCs, it's kind of like add-ons on Blockland, if I recall.

EDIT: forget me, it was on my old desktop.

free ones are usually normal powered unliked 64 mario i think
bought ones are like, street fighter quality i presume

Badpot
That would be epic.

There are a few ones that you would have to pay a custom maker for though.

There are plenty good quality free characters. Buying them really isn't the way to go anyway. There are many free easy ones to find without having to look for a designer.

If you barely found out about this a little while ago, I should shank you right now.

If not, I remember this game.

and getting Mugen All Characters Battle Zero.

Good times~
